from the date of his leaving Honduras on the supposition that he would start immediately for the Colony, as intended, he will not be able to have until the end of March.
Much as I cannot allow so long a period to be considered as employed in the public service, I have therefore instructed Mr. Austin to pay Mr. Salang half salary from the 4th November, the day he left Belize until the 3rd February, and between the latter date & the 29th March.
During this period, he will be entitled to half-salary from the Hong Kong Funds, until his arrival.
This appointment is made on the assumption that he will be able to assume his duties upon arrival.
